Every time I visit the Denver area, I try to spend some time in Colorado Springs. On this occasion, I was on vacation with Carol and friends and we decided to stay in town primarily to visit the Garden of the Gods. After my pre-dawn visit to the park, we decided to visit the United States Air Force Academy. The Academy is home to one of the most unique chapels in the world. It’s modern design with seventeen spires was built in 1962 and actually houses three chapels (Protestant, Catholic and Jewish chapels). It was named a U.S. National Historic Landmark in 2004.
This image was taken on a mostly overcast day at noon. In order to get the details of the spires and the stained glass, I decided to shoot a high dynamic range image. Without a tripod, I wasn’t sure that it would turn out but I was pleasantly surprised withe the result.
