Many of you who know me are aware of my love for the western United States. I am a mountain man at heart and would love to live there. If I can ever convince Carol to retire in the west, I think that that Colorado Springs area would be perfect place to settle.. Colorado Springs is a great location from which I can visit some of my favorite places such as the national parks of Utah (let’s not forget Monument Valley), Wyoming, Arizona, New Mexico and, of course, Colorado itself. When I wasn’t visiting those places, I could have one of the best playgrounds around, the Garden of the Gods.
The Garden is a public park with some of the best geological features around. The sandstone and limestone rock formations are interspersed throughout the park in the shadow of Pikes Peak. It is the destination of many rock climbers due to some of the steep formations. Garden of the Gods is a must visit destination if you ever visit the Denver area.
On this particular morning, we were on vacation with good friends of ours. Since I am the only photographer in the group, I quietly made my way out of the bed & breakfast at 4 am and headed for the park. This particular shot is of the central garden area of the park showing a line of the rock formations in the golden glow of the morning sun. I thoroughly enjoyed the peace and solitude and shot for about 2 hours before meeting for breakfast.
