Spirit Island is one of the most iconic locations in the Canadian Rockies. The tiny island is located on Maligne Lake in Jasper National Park, Alberta. While accessible by long and challenging hikes, the easiest way to reach the island is to take one of the numerous boat trips across the lake. The lake is famed for the color of its water, the surrounding peaks and the three glaciers which are visible from the lake. We spent 3 days in Jasper and it rained for the better part of our stay. It rained for most of our boat trip to Spirit Island and luckily stopped for about a half hour when we got off the boat. I was able to capture this shot from above the island before it started to rain again.
This view is one of the most famous views of the Canadian Rockies.
