Sometimes a Sunday drive can result in an unexpected moment. On a frigid day in February, we headed out toward Essex, CT and the surrounding area. We came upon the ferry across the Connecticut River from the Gillette Castle. The sign said that the ferry would reopen in May. The light and reflections were absolutely perfect. So much for planning!
